About Us

Built for the Robotics Revolution

Founded in Boston in 2021, Gravis Robotics Capital invests at the seed stage in companies transforming industries through robotics and automation.

Why We Started Gravis Robotics Capital

Gravis Robotics Capital was founded in 2021 on a simple conviction: that the most important robotics and automation companies of the next decade would be built by deep-tech founders who needed more than just funding. They needed patient partners who understood the physics, the software, and the long commercialization timelines unique to this space.

Founder Benjamin Garcia saw this gap firsthand during years of working at the intersection of hardware engineering and venture capital. Too many breakthrough robotic systems were languishing not because the technology was insufficient, but because early investors lacked the domain conviction to continue supporting them through the inevitable valleys of development. Gravis was built to be that different kind of partner.

Today, with $115M in assets under management and a portfolio spanning industrial automation, AI-powered robots, and autonomous systems, Gravis Robotics Capital has established itself as one of the leading seed-stage investors in the robotics and automation landscape.

Gravis Robotics Capital founding story

How We Think About Investing

Our approach combines rigorous technical due diligence with genuine founder partnership. We do not lead from a spreadsheet — we build relationships and invest in people first.

Seed Stage Conviction

We lead pre-seed and seed rounds, writing checks from $2M to $8M. We are comfortable being the first institutional capital in and understand the technical and commercial risks of early-stage deep tech.

Technical Due Diligence

Our team includes former engineers and researchers. We evaluate the underlying physics, algorithmic approaches, and hardware architectures before making an investment decision.

Founder-First Culture

We believe great outcomes come from extraordinary founders. Our selection process prioritizes technical excellence, clarity of vision, resilience, and genuine commitment to the problem being solved.

Network & Access

Through our partnership with Base10 Partners and our deep connections across academia, industry, and government, we open doors for portfolio companies that would otherwise remain closed.

Long Time Horizons

Breakthrough robotics companies take time to build. We structure our fund to allow patient capital deployment and extended support windows aligned with hardware development realities.

Geographic Focus

Based in Boston, a world-class robotics research hub, we invest primarily in North American companies while maintaining active connections to robotics ecosystems globally.

What Guides Us

Every decision at Gravis Robotics Capital is anchored in a consistent set of principles that have defined our culture since day one.

Intellectual Honesty

We tell our portfolio companies what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. Honest feedback, delivered with respect, is among the most valuable things we offer.

Curiosity & Learning

The robotics landscape evolves rapidly. We invest heavily in staying current, attending technical conferences, collaborating with university labs, and learning from every founder we meet.

Aligned Incentives

Our incentives are tightly aligned with our founders and LPs. We succeed when our portfolio companies create lasting value, not when we generate short-term returns through financial engineering.

Our Anchor Investor

Gravis Robotics Capital completed its $115M Seed Round in August 2021, anchored by Base10 Partners. This relationship provides our fund with deep operational expertise and a global network across technology ecosystems.
